Gustav was the second son of Anton and Elizabeth. He was born in 1860 in Peoria, IL. He married Bertha Trautvetter on April 28, 1885. Gustav and Bertha had 3 children.
Gustav was associated with his father Anton in the plastering business. While his sons were small he left the family and moved to Indianapolis.

Gustav & Bertha's children:
Augusta, their 1st child, died when ony 4 days old.
Emil Anton, their 2nd child, went to Business School and become a speed typist.
Gustav Robert, Jr., their 3rd child, went to the Gregg School in Chicago, and also became a speed typist.

In the 1890 and 1891 Peoria Directories Gustav works with his father A. Trefzger & Son.
In the 1910 census Bertha, a widow, lives in Manhattan Ward 12, New York with Emil A. 22, Gustave 19, and Freeda Trautvetter 34.
In the 1920 census Bertha lives in Brooklyn Assembly District 21, Kings, New York.
In 1920 son Gus R. lives in Atlantic City Ward 1.
In 1930 son Emil A. lives in San Francisco, CA with his family.
In 1930 son Gus lives in Pasadena, Los Angeles, CA with his wife, children and mother.
Comment:
Robert Trefzger told me the following:
"In the typing competitions there were Amateurs, Masters, and Professionals. Gus won the World Amateur Typing Championship in 1911. Both Gus and Emil were on a Underwood demonstration team. Gus competed until 1916 winning many medals."
