Hater Name
The spelling of the name Hater has evolved over the centuries.
Originally it was ‘Ter Hardt’ or ‘Terhart’, or other variants.
A ‘hart’ is a small hill with a forest, and persons living there were ‘Terhart’. It eventually became Harter.
The name ‘Hater’ is thought to be a modern spelling of the old-German ‘Harter’.
There are many descendants of the Harters today in both Germany and America, with the name Hater is now used in both countries.
