Fluegemann

Mary (Mamie) Hater was one of the nine children of John and Gertrud Hater.

Mamie Hater married Joseph Fluegemann in 1898 at St. Boniventura Church in South Fairmount.

After their marriage, Joe bought the ‘Fairmount Bazaar’ from his father-in-law, John Hater.
This dry good and shoe store was located at 1542-1544 Harrison Ave. in South Fairmount.

The Dry Goods store also sold women’s hats (millinery).
Mamie studied the art of millinery.
She loved hats and hoped to open her own millinery store some day.
Her sister, Lillie, also loved hats.
