August Trefzger immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1882 with his wife Lizzie and a son Frederick and a daughter Augusta. From the Citazenship Records we know they arrived on 2/16/1882 through New York, from Harve. On 3/3/1885 August became a citizen of the U.S.A. August was a blacksmith.

In the 1900 census Fred and wife Katie live in Cincinnati Ward 23.

Study
Ron Trefzger ( August’s great Grandson) told me that his great grandfather August Trefzger was born in 1843, and came to the U.S.A. in 1882.

While going through the microfilmed records of the Catholic Church in Wehr, Baden, Germany I found an Augustin Trefzger, born 28 August 1843 at 5 pm, and baptized on 30 August 1843. His parents were Martin and Maria Anna Trefzger.

Comment
I believe the enclosed birth record for Augustin Trefzger is August’s birth record. His father is Martin Trefzger. Since there were several Martin Trefzgers born between 15 and 45 years before Augustin we have no way of knowing which Martin Trefzger is Augustin’s father. Thus we can not connect August with either the family of Friedli or the family of Joseph.

Thanks
Our thanks to Ron Trefzger and Tim Hessling for supplying information about August’s descendants.

Our thanks to Bud. In November 2017 Bud, a friend of my brother Paul, dropped off a copy of August’s citizenship certificate, a newspaper clipping of Mr. & Mrs F Trefzger’s 50th anniversary article and info on ‘Trefzger’s in southwestern Ohio to 1920’ from his mother’s lockbox. He said August was his great great grandfather.
